Hedda Gabler
By Henrik Ibsen
In a new version by Kathy McKean
I was always told my life held so much promise
That I had so much promise
Don’t you think I deserve that?
Wasn’t that a promise that was made to me?
Hedda Gabler is bored and when Hedda is bored, she is dangerous.
Recently married and just returned from her honeymoon, Hedda ought to be looking forward to a life of security and domestic bliss – but something isn’t right. Happiness seems entirely out of her reach.
When an old schoolmate arrives with surprising news of a former acquaintance, it sparks a chain of events that will see Hedda push all those around her to the brink – even as she herself comes perilously close to the edge.
In the stunning surroundings of the Kibble Palace, Henrik Ibsen’s powerful drama makes its Bard in the Botanics debut in this new version by Kathy McKean, with award-winning actor, Nicole Cooper, in the title role.
