The Merry Wives of Wishaw
By William Shakespeare
Freely adapted from “The Merry Wives of Windsor” by Gordon Barr
We'll leave a proof, by that which we will do,
Wives may be merry, and yet honest too.
Get ready to meet the Real Housewives of Shakespeare!
Rejected by his former companions and hounded out of London, Sir John Falstaff must find fertile new ground for his get-rich-quick schemes.
Enter Wishaw!
Amongst the beauty parlours, pubs and golf courses of his new home, he sets about seducing two well-to-do women – but, in Wishaw, women talk! These not-so-desperate housewives have a few tricks of their own up their sleeves and Falstaff is about to get a taste of his own medicine!
Join us for a night of laughter under the stars as Shakespeare’s riotous comedy is given a thoroughly gallus West Coast of Scotland makeover in this uproarious new production where women have the last laugh and men can get in the bin!
